Dear Friends,

Spirit Guides and personal Deities are an important part of the Pagan spiritual path. Getting in touch with them is a good starting place for your spiritual practice. Don’t worry about how to approach your Deity, you don’t need to use special wording or a specific ritual in order to get in touch with them. Be yourself. They know you and have known you for your entire life. Speak to them as your heart does, and they will listen. They love you unconditionally. Forget about any preconceived notions you have with regards to your spirituality. Your faith ultimately comes from within, and there are no wrong or right ways to find your Spirit Guides and Deity. Your path will evolve naturally from guidance from the Deity.

To prepare for your meditation, as I previously mentioned, you’ll need to be in a quiet and comfortable place. You can, if you choose, use candles and incense to set the mood of the session. Some people find it helpful to surround themselves with images and items that are special to them. I often use Tarot cards to express feelings, and also have artwork of nature surrounding me as I meditate. You can use herbs, gemstones, crystals or even a special piece of cloth to make the meditation more sacred.

Before you start your meditation, however, it is important to say a short blessing to prevent any negative energy from entering your space. You can also cast a circle, but for this type of meditation, I prefer to use the following blessing:

‘spirit Guides, I come before you to ask for your help. Please guide me toward the right spiritual path. Please show me the path that will bring me peace, love, inner strength, courage and stability. Protect me and my family from all negative spirits or energies that wish to do us harm, since I am stepping into unfamiliar territory. I ask that only spirits of love and protection show themselves to me. Show me who you are as I do this mediation today and give me the wisdom to recognize you as what you are. I come humbly before you, and thank you for communing with me. Blessed be.”

To begin meditating, get into your comfortable position, and ground and center. If you practice the astral projection technique that I outlined in an earlier message, you can travel to your astral temple. If not, simply make your mind a blank slate and mentally call out to your Deity and Guides.

Close your eyes and be still. Take a few slow deep breaths and release them. With each release, feel your body becoming more relaxed. Take as many moments as you need to get truly relaxed. Ask your spirit to be open and ready to receive the messages from your Spirit Guides today.

They will respond in words, visions and thoughts. You can even see their presence in dreams or in reading you do. Sometimes, they will send a special person or series of people to pass through your life to help you grow spiritually. Keep in mind the response may not come in the actual session, but later that day or week. If you experience visions dreams and messages during your meditation time, make sure to write down everything that happens. Your meditation may be interrupted by thoughts of your mundane life. It’s sometimes hard to put aside the things like the growing pile of laundry, the mortgage payment or what to make for dinner. If you have these types of thoughts, let them come through but don’t dwell on them during your meditation. Don’t try to block them out for that will result in their persistent interruption. Just try to let them flow through you.

Don’t worry if you don’t receive any messages during your first session. Know that your Spirit Guides and Deity are listening, and will make themselves known to you with time. It takes a few sessions to be able to break beyond the physical world and allow your spirit to tap into the other side. Keep up the practice each day for at least fifteen minutes. You will get the messages you need in time.

Dear Friends,

One of the fantastic things about being a Witch is choosing your concept of Deity. I never identified with the white-bearded, distant and impersonal God I was taught about in Sunday school as a child. No doubt, if you are exploring Wicca or are already a Pagan, you didn’t either.

To Pagans, Deity is personal and powerful. The Deity in your life is any Higher Power or Spiritual Energy that you put your faith and trust in. You rely on your Deity to help you grow spiritually. Some people rely on the God and Goddess, and don’t name them. Others pick more specific Deities from the mythology of the Ancient World, like Athena, Venus, Zeus and Osiris. The Deity can also be identified through Animal Totems, Jesus, Mary, The Holy Spirit, the Lord and Lady, Mother Nature, Angels, etc. Since they are chosen on a personal level, there are too many to name here.

To get in touch with your personal Deity, you’ll want to reach him or her through meditation. Meditation is the form by which you can seek their help and let them get in touch with you on a soul level.

Prepare yourself for meditation by finding a quiet place where you feel peaceful. Make sure you can be comfortable, and won’t be disturbed. The key to finding your spirit guide or Personal Deity is to be comfortable during the meditation process. You can try meditating standing up with your arms held toward the skies. Some people say this helps, but I’ve been able to meditate in several different positions. If you can, try to do this meditation outside at night. I’ve found that this helps increase the bond between oneself and the Deity.

However, the choice is most definitely up to you! Comfort is the ultimate goal, and whatever makes you comfortable is best. There is no wrong way to start this process! Find a place that “feels” spiritual to you. This could be outdoors, but it could also be a quiet part of your home, or a completely different location. Paganism fits you, not the other way around.

Your spiritual side already knows which Deities you believe in, but your conscious rational mind might block that out until you are ready to receive them into your life. This blocking occurs until you are ready to receive them. This meditation practice will let your mind know it is time to explore this more spiritual part of your life. Your Spirit Guides have waiting for you to call upon them so they can make themselves known to you. They have been waiting for you to come before them and ask their guidance.

Their presence may have been known to you for years, in small twinges of intuition. If you’ve ever felt yourself inexplicably pulled in one direction or other’those were your Spirit Guides at work. The gut feelings you’ve experienced over the years are evidence of their presence as well.

In fact, your draw to Paganism and Witchcraft is a result of your Spirit Guides influence as well. Through the years, you’ve read about religions, heard mention of Deities and felt a pull in your spirit. This was your gentle guide toward finding your true spiritual nature. In fact, you may have been drawn to this site based on one of those feelings. From now on, pay more attention to those thoughts and twinges. Feel where your Deity is guiding you, and follow accordingly.

In the next section, I’ll reveal how to align yourself with your Deity and discover more about it. I’ll expound on the meditation method necessary for getting in touch with your Spirit Guides. And I’ll explain the importance of them in your life.

Brightest Blessing,

Dear Friends,

Have you looked at the Moon lately? The Moon is the most important heavenly body to witches. We draw on the power of the moon for lunar magick. We cast spells in accordance with the Moon’s cycles and it inspires and illuminates us. The Moon Goddess watches over us all and protects us. She mimics the cycle of womanhood, from Maiden, to Mother, to Crone.

Moon Magick is special and unique. There are a lot of different ways to use the Moon’s power magickally. They are good stepping-stones for your Magickal practice, and can enhance different parts of your life. An old Wiccan rhyme states:

Pray to the Moon, when she is round;
Luck with you, shall then abound.
What ever you seek for, shall be found,
In Sea, or Sky or Solid Ground.

The Wheel of Moon continues on a never-ending course. The Moon also travels through the astrological signs, just like the other heavenly bodies. When the Moon resides in a particular sign, that sign influences the magick of the Moon. The following chart can help you attune your magick toward the astrological sign.

Moon in Aries: Spells involving authority, willpower and rebirth.
Moon in Taurus: Spells involving love, real estate, and money.
Moon in Gemini: Spells involving communication, public relations and travel.
Moon in Cancer: Spells involving domestic life and honoring lunar deities.
Moon in Leo: Spells involving power over others, courage, childbirth.
Moon in Virgo: Spells involving employment matters, health and intellectual matters.
Moon in Libra: Spells involving court cases, partnerships and artistic matters.
Moon in Scorpio: Spells involving secrets, power and psychic growth.
Moon in Sagittarius: Spells involving publications, sports and the truth.
Moon in Capricorn: Spells involving career, political matters and ambition.
Moon in Aquarius: Spells involving science, freedom, personal expression, problem solving and friendship.
Moon in Pisces: Spells involving music, telepathy and clairvoyance

Another form of Moon magick is to make a Moon Water tonic. Tonic water contains the energy of the Moon, and has very powerful healing benefits. The Tonic can bring about integral balance and wholeness throughout your body, mind and soul.

To make your own Moon Water Tonic:
1. Wait for a clear night, preferably on or right before the full moon. Put your crystal in a clear glass and cover with one cup of purified water.
2. Check an almanac for the exact time of sundown on the day you have chosen. At sundown, place the glass out of doors in a moonlit place (cover the glass with clear plastic wrap).
3. Remove the glass at dawn. The water is now filled with lunar potency. Drink the moon water every morning to prepare your body, mind and spirit for the stress of the day.
Another simple way to honor the Moon is to start a Moon Diary. Since the Moon has a profound effect over your moods, thoughts and magick, it’s a good idea to take note of how you are personally affected. To start a Moon journal, choose a blank book with white paper. You can begin on any day, just make sure to note which phase the Moon is in. Write the phase down and the date, and then take a few notes on how you feel. What were your impressions of the day? What did you experience? You can also sketch and doodle your feelings and let your Muse guide you.
As you express yourself through this diary; pay attention to interesting patterns and phenomena. You can get to know how the moon has effect over you, and plan accordingly.
The Moon’s power is great, and is to be respected. These simple exercises will help you get in touch with its power.

Dear Friends,

In the last entry, I let you know about the fantastic power of the Moon and how we need to respect that power. Once you begin to notice the Moon phases, you’ll be able to have more powerful magick and a more balanced life. We experience physical, emotional and spiritual changes during the course of the Moon’s phases.During the New Moon, your energy is turned inward and your spirit may feel withdrawn and tired. The Waxing Moon (when the Moon is growing in size in the sky) is a time of growth, renewal and planting. The Waxing Moon is also a good time for resting and relaxing.

The next phase of the Moon is the Full Moon. This is when the Sun and Moon are opposite one another. During this time the Moon rises at sunset and sets in the early evening. It is present in the sky more than any time during the rest of the month, thus its power is felt very intensely here on earth.

The Full Moon has a few different effects on people. I’ve found that I am more prone to irritation and annoyance with others during this time. In my house, prior to the Full Moon, we experience a lot of bickering. I’ve also noticed a tendency toward over-excitement. Emotions are bubbling. The Full Moon is sometimes associated with a cauldron, which is very appropriate. Its power makes everything rise to the surface and it applies emotional and spiritual heat in our lives.

The Full Moon is noted for having a measurable effect in crime statistics. It’s also been reported that emergency room visits increase during this time. When I worked in retail, the Full Moon was always an interesting one. Once I had a woman wanting to return a wedding dress because “her daughter was done with it.” And another lady wanted to return a threadbare fur coat from another store. The next time you have a head-scratching event, check the calendar. You might be dealing with someone under the Full Moon’s influence.

If you have a magickal garden, the Full Moon is the ideal time for picking your herbs. The earth and all its elements are infused with the Moon’s energy. Magick during this phase of the moon is focused on protection and divination. Many people schedule their magick for the Full Moon, because it offers extra power. The Full Moon is also a perfect time for healing spells, new employment spells and money spells. This phase is the most magickal time of the month; use it wisely.

The Waning Moon marks the time that the earth breathes in and is more receptive. Your body responds in the same way; people are more receptive both physically and intellectually. This is a time for inner work. Magick of the Waning Moon should focus on your personal psychic power, meditation and attracting things to you. If you take the time to center yourself during this period, you will find yourself more calm, focused and concentrated. Magick having to do with wisdom, knowledge and healing also works well during this time. You should also spend time cleaning and organizing your home; you’ll feel less stress about this than during the other moon phases.

In the garden, the Waning Moon is a time for cut plants and trim trees. Your plants will recover more quickly and heal. It is a time for pruning, but not for planting. Save that for the Waxing Moon.

And so the cycle continues again, with the Waning Moon leading into another New Moon. Using the Moon’s energy in your life can have a large impact on your life, your magick and the way you approach the world. In encourage you to get in touch with the Moon’s cycles and apply them to your life.
Brightest Blessing,
